Music Department

NTUA’s music department aims to cultivate the soul in the pursuit of spiritual freedom, to strengthen the virtues of camaraderie, to promote creativity, and to encourage the feeling of giving back to society. The students could explore different forms of personal expression through art, thus have the chance to enhance their personalities and contribute to the society’s cultural improvement.

The music department of the NTUA was first established in 1960 by the Rector Alexandros Pappas and the composer Mr. Vassilis Makridis was appointed as Head of this newly founded Department. Today, it is administered by the Directorate of Student Affairs and its role is “to support the University administratively in all its activities that are related to the students’ music education and all the cultural events that the University may hold”.

All University students and staff can attend music and theatre lessons.

The Music Department has also a fully equipped music studio which is available for recordings to all student bands.

All University students and members of staff can register at the Music Department once a year at the beginning of the academic year, following the Department’s relevant announcement.

The Music Department is situated in the Patission Complex.
